Charles B. Cater
Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Thomson North American Legal and Thomson West

Charles "Chip" Cater is executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Thomson North American Legal, a strategic business unit of The Thomson Corporation and the foremost provider of electronic workflow solutions to the U.S. legal profession. He is responsible for driving strategy and revenue growth for Thomson West, Thomson FindLaw, Thomson Elite, Carswell, GSI, LiveNote and all other North American Legal businesses.

Since joining Thomson in 1987, Mr. Cater has been closely involved in the development and rapid growth of electronic products and services. He has held a number of key leadership positions for Thomson businesses, most recently serving as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for West. Prior to this, he was West's senior vice president, Sales & Account Management.

Mr. Cater holds a bachelor's degree from New York's Hamilton College and has done graduate work at the University of Montana, Boston University and Babson College. He serves on the boards of directors of several nonprofit organizations.
