Westlaw Business Offers New Private Equity Center Plus Key Enhancements for its Securities and M&A Centers

EAGAN, Minn., Feb. 20, 2008 - Key expansion to Westlaw Business provides even greater competitive advantage for business law professionals in obtaining the most relevant research and legal guidance on mergers and acquisitions, offerings, securities, and related business law topics. Westlaw Business is part of Thomson West, a business within The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC).
The Private Equity Center has been added to Westlaw Business, making it the fourth specialized work center offered. The other centers include LIVEDGAR, Securities, and M&A. The Private Equity Center brings together buyout and capital markets coverage, laws, and regulations from West, and renowned Aspatore guidance materials to provide a superior single source of private equity information.
In addition to its comprehensive '34 Act information, Westlaw Business has added '33 Act and Blue Sky coverage to the Securities Center, making it the most robust resource for filings, law, and guidance in the industry.
"Our business law customers will have an unparalleled resource for their practice with our new Private Equity Center," said Kevin Ritchey, vice president, West Transactional Law. "The enhanced Securities Center also extends our commitment to finding new ways to serve the research and analysis needs of that ever-changing market."
The M&A Center has also been enhanced and now includes relevant caselaw as well as M&A-related laws and regulations, including the Williams Act and Hart-Scott-Rodino.
Westlaw Business was launched in July, 2007, and set a new standard for content and utility among business law practitioners. It is the first dedicated business law research tool to combine securities filings information, related securities law and regulations, plus specialized financial content from Thomson Financial to provide a broader, more multi-dimensional view into the complex practice of business law.
"Today, business law and transactions are commonly conducted across boundaries and borders. It is complex work, and practitioners need access to the right legal, regulatory, securities, and markets information to most effectively support their clients," Ritchey noted. "Westlaw Business provides a powerful, integrated platform - geared expressly to the unique needs of business law professionals, their clients, and their business transactions."
