My Westlaw®

Customize Westlaw to match your needs.

My Westlaw is an exclusive Westlaw feature that allows you to change your Westlaw browser interface to suit your research needs. With My Westlaw you can add, remove and rearrange the search tools, databases, and shortcuts that appear on westlaw.com custom tabbed pages. You can even share these pages with your colleagues via e-mail.

How can My Westlaw help me?

Currently, there are over 140 custom tabbed pages available for various practice areas, states and federal jurisdictions. While these tabbed pages are time-savers by themselves, personalizing them provides even faster and easier access to the information you need. This makes your research sessions shorter and more productive.

How do I begin personalizing?

To start personalizing your Westlaw interface, simply log on to westlaw.com, click My Westlaw in the upper right corner of the screen, and follow the easy instructions on the page. You can also start with a custom tabbed page for a jurisdictional or practice area that you're already using. Go to the tabbed page, then click on the Edit links to make changes to any of the three sections. Once you have the shortcuts, search tools, and databases in the order you want, click Save. It's that easy!

How long does it take?

It takes less than 5 minutes to set up a custom tabbed page with your own research shortcuts, your preferred search method (Natural Language or Terms and Connectors), and your most-used databases front and center.

Can I share custom tabs with my colleagues?

Absolutely! With the Send a Tab feature, you can send custom tabbed pages (including personalized pages) via e-mail to other Westlaw users. For example, say you're working on the Smith bankruptcy case. Click the My Westlaw link in Westlaw and personalize the bankruptcy tab to include the databases and search tools you're relying on. Next, rename the tab with the case name, "Smith bankruptcy." E-mail this new tab to your team, and you're all on the same page.

How many tabbed pages can I have?

You can display up to six tabbed pages at once. You can make changes to these pages or replace them at any time.
